OWNER’S HISTORY

OWNER

HIROYASU OBANA

My name is Hiroyasu Ohana and the manager of Pine Luxury Homestay.  When I was a student in the U.S., I was an enthusiastic fly fisher.  Through my fly fishing days,  I was fortunate enough to meet a large number of great people there. They were always so helpful that I could make a lot of great memories and they even made my life better.  My goal is to help foreign tourists have some unforgettable experience in Sano where I was born and raised.

Personal History

Born in February 1975.  I majored in Biology at Montana State University.  After returning to Japan, I worked for an ISO audit organization in Tokyo, and later returned to Sano, where I have just opened my own business as a guest house owner now. I enjoy traveling and fly-fishing.
I am now a FFI certified casting instructor, mentored by a world renowned instructor, Bruce Richards.

Recommendation

For the last 4 years I’ve been mentoring Hiro Obana to become an FFI certified
casting instructor. Hiro is an excellent fly caster but being an excellent instructor
requires much more than casting skill. To be a very effective casting instructor
someone must have deep understanding of fly casting mechanics and they must
be able to communicate that knowledge clearly, concisely and simply to students.
Hiro understands fly casting extremely well and he knows how to clearly
communicate that knowledge to others wanting to be better casters.
Hiro is very good at analyzing students casting flaws and he knows how to fix
them. He can teach someone who has never cast a fly before, and he can help
experienced casters be much better. If you have a desire to learn to cast a fly, or
be a better caster, I strongly recommend that you spend some time casting with
Hiro Obana!

PLH was built by Honka, a Finland’s top log home company.  We would like you to chill out here during your stay as well as enjoy cruising a countryside small town, Sano which is a town full of history to see and culture to experience.  We are very happy to show you around the area where there is something you do not see in big cities like Tokyo or Kyoto, so please feel free to contact us for more information and I look forward to seeing you soon.
